The Newport News Council of PTAs recognizes and honors outstanding volunteers who have given selflessly
to make their school community a better place for students and staff to achieve their goals. Each local
unit has the opportunity to nominate the person that they have chosen as the Volunteer of the Year for
Council. To accomplish this we need your help in finding these volunteers. We suggest that you consult
the PTA President, Volunteer Chairman, and Principal when choosing your nominee.
To submit a volunteer for this award, your PTA local unit must be in good standing according to the
Newport News Council of PTAs. (The criteria can be located here:
Good Standing Status
To be eligible for this award, your Volunteer of the Year nominee must be a member of their local unit's
PTA and support PTA projects and functions.
We encourage all local units to participate. All applications must be received by March 1, 2008. The
award will be presented at the May General Membership Meeting. Please send two (2) copies of the completed
application by mail to the volunteer chairperson indicated on the form. Additionally, you may contact them at
