In order for your unit to participate in State, District, and Council sponsored programs
(example: Arts in Education, Essay Contest, After Prom Grant, Volunteer of the Year), your unit
must be a "UNIT IN GOOD STANDING" both with the Virginia State PTA and our Newport News Council
of PTAs. |
According to the Virginia PTA and the Newport News Council of PTAs, a "UNIT IN GOOD STANDING"
meets the following criteria:
- Bylaws are current and membership dues have been paid on time for the past year ending June 30th;
- A copy of the list of officers has been forwarded to the state office and council President;
- A copy of the local unit's audit report is filed in the state office and with the council president.
The proper IRS form (forms 990-N, 990, or 990-EZ) have been filed with the IRS and a copy sent to the VA State PTA office if required.
